Pavillon du Lac: A Haven of Light, a Journey Through the Seasons

Perched on the edge of a peaceful lake, the Pavillon du Lac unfolds in a subtle harmony with its natural surroundings. Completed in 2015, this project stands as a testament to the balance between architecture and landscape, where light and transparency are the guiding themes. By integrating advanced fenestration solutions, this pavilion becomes a true gateway to the surrounding elements.

Designed by architect Renée Daoust of DAOUST LESTAGE inc., this pavilion stands out for its groundbreaking approach to fenestration. The floor-to-ceiling fenestration concept, orchestrated by Solena Façade, reveals triple-glazed curtain walls and Sky-Frame sliding windows that disappear to allow the space to blend seamlessly into the landscape. This perfect integration is enhanced by discreetly hidden ceiling screens, providing comfort without compromising the purity of the panoramic views.

This pavilion is more than just a structure; it is a silent witness to the changing seasons. In autumn, golden light filters through the glass, illuminating the interior with shimmering reflections, while in winter, the frozen lake and bare trees create a scene of striking tranquility. In spring and summer, the lush landscapes unfold like a living garden, with every leaf and ripple becoming an integral part of the space.

Photographer Adrien Williams captured the very essence of this unique place, where the architecture almost vanishes, allowing for an immersive experience. This achievement is a tribute to the ability of architecture to enhance nature and make it an intrinsic part of daily life. Reflecting on this project, one cannot help but feel a gentle nostalgia for those moments of contemplation where time seems to stand still.
